In August, COTESA carried out an experimental drone inspection in one of the transmission lines maintained by the company, in extra high voltage. 20 structures were inspected in an eight kilometer extension of a 345 KV Line.

In addition to the higher level of detail, drone inspection offers the advantage of optimizing time and resources. Through technology, the same time it would take to perform a quick inspection of a single structure becomes sufficient to inspect a minimum of five structures.

The goal is to gradually replace drone inspections with “rapid” inspections, which are visual inspections to identify apparent problems. With the use of the drone, these aspects are still being mapped, but with greater detail and an accuracy level of centimeters.
