10 INDIVIDUAL MEASURES THAT HELP SAVE WATER

Brazil is going through a serious water crisis in the face of a historic drought in the regions of the country's main hydroelectric plants and may have problems with the supply of electricity. The available thermoelectric plants were activated to guarantee the energy supply and Aneel announced the application of the level 2 of the red tariff flag for the month of June, at a cost of R$ 6.243 for each 100kWh consumed.

Given this scenario, we have prepared 10 tips for individual measures that reduce water consumption:

1. Time the bath

A 15-minute bath can use up to 135 liters of water. If you reduce the time under the shower to 5 minutes, only 45 liters are used.

2. Turn off the faucet when brushing your teeth

Brushing your teeth and washing your face and hands with the tap running can represent a consumption of 12 liters of water.

3. Lather all dishes at once

Before washing the dishes, remove leftover food with the support of a napkin or paper towel and soap them all at once, with the tap turned off.

4. Limit washing machine use

The ideal is to use the machine always full and in complete washing cycles. Newer appliances also offer eco-mode, which uses up to 30% less water and energy.

5. Reuse water from the washing machine

The water used in the washing machine is usually discharged down the drain. However, as it only contains soap residue, in most cases it can be reused and used to wash floors, wash the yard and even water plants.

6. Do not hose sidewalks

Cleaning the sidewalk with a hose is a little conscious attitude and can represent a consumption of 120 liters of water.

7. Implement the discharge with double actuation valve

There are already systems developed to release water into the toilet bowl as needed. The double actuation valve can be installed either in wall outlets or in coupled boxes.

8. Check and fix any leaks

Infiltrations and leaks can happen without you noticing and represent a high waste of water – in addition to scaring the bill that arrives at the end of the month. Leaks and stains on the wall are clues that appear when bigger problems have been installed longer ago.

9. Close the taps tightly

Leaking faucet is easy to notice and can waste up to 40 liters of water a day.

10. Wash the car with buckets

Another way to save money is eco-washing, which leaves the vehicle clean using a spray bottle with 400 ml of water, two microfiber cloths and a special shampoo for washing.
