PROJECT STUDY 68% INCREASE IN RELATION TO THE CURRENT POWER OF THE PHOTOVOLTAIC SOLAR ENERGY MARKET FOR 2021

The photovoltaic solar energy market is growing in Brazil. According to information from the Brazilian Association of Photovoltaic Solar Energy (Absolar), the country should reach 12.56 gigawatts (GW) of installed capacity by December this year, compared to the current power of 7.46 GW.

The numbers include both large plants (“centralized generation”) and generation systems distributed on roofs, facades and small plots. For large projects, the entity estimates an increase of 37%, going from the current 3.1 GW to 4.2 GW. The so-called “distributed generation” is expected to grow 90%, from 4.4 GW to 8.3 GW.

Absolar also predicts that private investments in the solar sector may exceed R$22.6 billion this year. Of this total forecast, distributed generation will correspond to approximately R$ 17.2 billion.

Also according to the association's study, the solar source should generate more than 147,000 new jobs in the country this year, reaching a cumulative total of more than 377,000 jobs created since 2012, distributed among all the productive links in the sector .
