Brazil enters the Top 15 world solar power generation
Brazil climbed two positions in the Global Ranking and now occupies the 14th place in the list of countries with the greatest solar generation capacity in large plants and in small and medium systems installed on roofs, facades and land.
Brazil reached 10GW of operational power from the photovoltaic solar source, which is equivalent to more than 70% of the power of the Itaipu hydroelectric plant, the second largest in the world and the largest in Latin America.
The list is led by China (253.8 GW), followed by the United States (73.8 GW) and Japan (68.6 GW). Brazil is the only Latin American country in the Top 15, prepared by Irena (International Agency for Renewable Energy).
According to the Brazilian Photovoltaic Solar Energy Association (Absolar), the energy source has already brought to Brazil more than R$ 52.7 billion in new investments and generated more than 300 thousand jobs since 2012. of 10.7 million tons of CO2 in electricity generation. Thus reinforcing the strategic role of this technology in our electricity supply, fundamental for the resumption of national economic growth.
