Regulation of Hybrid Power Plants optimizes energy generation

Energy projects from different renewable sources will be able to operate in an associated way in the same location and optimizing the transmission network. The National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL) regulated the operation of Hybrid Generating Plants (UGH) and defined the rules for granting and contracting the use of transmission systems, in addition to the forms of pricing.

The regulation is an advance so that assets from different sources of energy generation are in the same location and taking advantage of temporal complementarity, that is, when one generates and the other is less available. For example, a solar park generates energy only during the day, while the peak of wind energy occurs at night.

In this way, the productivity of energy generation is increased over the period and costs are also reduced, since currently enterprises pay to use the transmission system based on their total capacities. In addition, there is an advantage in mitigating commercial risks and saving on the purchase of land for the installation of projects.

According to market projections, for every 1MW of wind energy installed it is possible to add up to 35% of solar capacity, as both complement each other.
