New substation of UTE Pampa Sul starts power generation

The Pampa Sul Thermoelectric Power Plant was definitively connected to the Candiota 2 Substation and can now fully dispatch the energy generated by the Plant. The Cotesa-Conenge consortium was responsible for the migration works of the Transmission Line connection of the Pampa Sul Thermoelectric Power Plant, in Candiota (RS), ensuring the flow of energy to the National Interconnected System (SIN).

The new substation has the capacity to transmit the energy generated by UTE Pampa Sul and solves the temporary connection that the plant had with the previous substation. The thermoelectric generation was between 50% and 100% of capacity, varying according to the import condition from Uruguay, which had priority in dispatch.

According to Rafael Franzoni, Operational Director at Cotesa Engenharia, UTE Pampa Sul can now deliver all its generation capacity to the SIN. “There are 150MW of installed power, generating more stability and security for the national electrical system”, concludes Franzoni. The thermoelectric plant has the capacity to generate energy for up to 100,000 homes.

In addition to the construction of the new substation, the Cotesa-Conenge consortium complied with all the conditions and environmental management practices required for the project's Environmental License. There was a need to preserve the archeology of a rammed earth wall built by slaves, protect the water path so as not to silt up neighboring lands and the transfer of more than 200 species of flora, some threatened with extinction, to new preservation sites. .
