“I found my place in the electricity sector”, vibrates post-operation technique in the celebration of Women's Day

An almost tragic reason was the beginning of a journey of discovery and realization. On this Women's Day, Cotesa Engenharia reinforces its commitment to respect women and encourages increasing female participation in the electricity sector by telling the story of employee Franciane Porto Santana.

In June 2013, a severe motorcycle crash left Fran in recovery for three years. When he returned to work, as a receptionist at an electrical engineering company, the sparkle in his eyes lit up again and the new passion was driven by the trust of colleagues and the new challenges presented.

With encouragement from her family, especially her electrical engineer brother, the young woman, then 25 years old, prepared to enter the market in a professional way and was approved for the Electrotechnics course at the Federal Institute of Santa Catarina (IFSC). Two years later, a new approval for the Electrical Engineering course at the same institution.

At Cotesa Engenharia since June 2020, Fran continues to build her career. Hired as a Post-Operation Assistant, in one year she was promoted to technique due to her prominence and good results. “We see their dedication and perseverance to deliver good results, but above all their satisfaction and joy in each achievement”, reveals the Operations manager, Daniel Bicicgo.

One of the results that makes her most happy is the review of the findings of Cotesa Engenharia's customers with the National Electric System Operator (ONS). Combining all the exemptions in variable installments from the transmission companies, the post-operation sector achieved savings of R$ 15 million in 2021. “It is a very big responsibility to defend our customers, but it is gratifying to have participated in this achievement”, celebrates Franciane.

In addition to individual professional achievements, Fran celebrates the expansion of female participation in the sector. With just one more colleague when it arrived, post-op technique has seen that number grow to five today. In IFSC classrooms, women correspond to about 30% of Electrical Engineering students. “The market is very open to the participation of women and it is nice to see this evolution. We have to go after it, show our value and not give up”, he encourages.

Within Cotesa Engenharia, Fran praises the welcome from her colleagues, the partnership in the execution of the work and the tips for advancing in her career. “The company provides this support for us to grow professionally and there is a lot of respect, companionship and encouragement from all colleagues so that we can deliver the best work”, he comments.

Cotesa Engenharia wishes you a Happy Women's Day!
