Anomalies in solar plants generated losses of US$ 435 million in 2021

According to the Global Solar Inspection Report, failures from photovoltaic plants will cause $435 million in potential losses to the world market by 2021.

The study was based on the analysis of 66 million modules in 32 countries and found that 2.6% of solar energy is lost due to anomalies, generating an impact on power production of more than 100 MW. The main causes are problems in the string, inverter, combiner, module, and tracker.

The result in 2021 exceeded that of the previous year, which had a loss of 1.85% due to anomalies, that is, the causes have been increasing.

COTESA operates in more than 1.4 GW in photovoltaic assets, being more than 3GW in renewable generation assets, and applies its O&M engineering to act in prediction and prevention of failures and events that impact in revenue losses and asset unavailability.
